In “Secret Invasions,” Nick Fury is the only person standing between the Skrull and what they want from humankind.

Secret Invasion’ Trailer Reveals: President of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige and actor Don Cheadle debuted the official teaser for their upcoming Disney+ series Secret Invasion on Saturday during the Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, and 20th Century Fox showcase at Disney’s D23 Expo. In the trailer, Ben Mendelsohn plays Skrull General Talos in the series, while Samuel L. Jackson reprises his role as S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury.
Fury returns in the beginning of the trailer. An elderly, bearded Fury exits a spacecraft while Agent Hill (Colbie Smulders) says that he has been missing for years and that she has made repeated attempts to contact him. We already knew that Talos was posing as Fury on his instructions in Spider-Man: Far From Home, so now that he’s back, we are aware of a major development. The tone of the teaser is much darker, and the Skrull are no longer the friendly Skrull we first encountered in Captain Marvel. They seem to have colonised Earth. In the teaser, where Fury essentially asks him how much he trusts his own security, Cheadle makes a cameo as James Rhodes and War Machine. In the distance, a menacingly ticking clock can be heard.

Talos himself appears anxious. We realise the scope of the invasion when Skrull suddenly surround the man while one of them is posing as a human. They have been around for a while, and they are many. Although her character has not yet been given a name, Olivia Colman first appears when we enter a meat freezer where someone is being held captive and subjected to torture. She walks in with an unknown object, and it appears that she is responsible for eliminating the Skrulls because she tells Fury that he is not prepared to deal with this new threat. We also catch a glimpse of Emilia Clarke briefly as she promotes weapons and declares that this is “only the beginning.” The show is filled with explosives and intrigue and has more of an espionage feel to it.
Among the actors who feature in the series are Kingsley Ben Adir, who is frequently portrayed as the head of the Skrull, Christopher McDonald, Martin Freeman, who plays Everett Ross again, Regé-Jean Page, Killian Scott, Dermot Mulroney, and Carmen Ejogo. We’ll have to wait to find out whether any of our Avengers or Illuminati members will be making Skrull cameos since the trailer doesn’t show any other superheroes.
In 2023, Secret Invasions will make its debut exclusively on Disney+. Check out the brand-new trailer below and stay tuned to Collider for more amazing D23 news:
